As you already, know my family headed to the mountains for the ritulistic celebrations of turning 21. My brother who actually won $20 was the big winner, while I lost $6.25 (they must have a tracker for those who are celebrating their 21st birthday and make sure they win something).
Anywho, have you ever took the time to actually notice the overload of design you find in a casino? The only thing in that place that was subtle, were the exits. I took the time to notice all the different designs for slot machines. Everything including; "wheel of fortune", "monopoly," pirates, texas oil tycoons, fishing, and ever a lobster presenting tobasco sauce. There was a theme for almost every thing. It could be very easy to discuss how every slot machine used illustrateion and design to encourage whatever interest, game, or even fantasy you wanted to experience.
My personal favorite has to go to the unlikely and almost poor choice of a design is the used car salesman slot machine. I find it an odd choice for a slot machine, since the casinos want you to loose your money and not think about loosing. To me, a used car salesmen are the epitamy of being ripped off and getting a guaranteed lemon. Not to mention, the slot I saw actually, had a sleezy saleman type in a cheap suit. Plus, it was a penny slot. It would slowly take your money right in front of your face, just like a used car salesman would jack up the price just so you get a hand me down lemon. Classic.
Needless to say, we did have a good time. Gambling isn't a big thing with my family and friends. In the end, it is just entertainment and nothing more.
